The University of Findlay will present “An Evening with Marin Mazzie, Featuring Phil Reno” at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in Winebrenner Theological Seminary. The performance is the first in the Donnell Broadway Concert Series, which will bring an entertainer such as Mazzie to Findlay each fall.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students and senior citizens; and is free for UF faculty, staff and students. Call the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335 to reserve tickets. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door.

Mazzie’s performance is funded by the Thomas and Kathleen Donnell Broadway Concert Series, Mary Snyder Kirk Musical Theatre Guest Artist and James H. Brannigan Musical Theatre Guest Artist endowments at the University.

The three-time, Tony-nominated actress has appeared in “Ragtime,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” Sondheim’s “Passion,” the Pulitzer-Prize winning “Next to Normal,” “Spamelot,” “Man of La Mancha,” “Into the Woods,” “Big River,” “Camelot: Live from Lincoln Center” and the 2012 hit off-Broadway show, “Carrie.” She also appeared in a non-musical comedy, “Enron.”

This season, Mazzie earned acclaim in the off-Broadway revisal of the musical adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic, “Carrie.” She also appeared in the New York Encores! Series productions of “Kismet” and Cole Porter’s “Out of This World.” Mazzie is a recognized actress from the West End stages of London, as well.

Mazzie’s television appearances include the recurring character of Kathy Halverson on “Still Standing” (CBS) and guest appearances on “Without A Trace,” “Numb3rs,” “Jake In Progress,” “Stacked,” “Pryor Offenses” and “One Life To Live.” Other television appearances include many on PBS’ Great Performances: “Passion,” “My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies” and “My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs,” all on DVD, and also the long-running PBS series “An Evening With The Pops,” the Boston Pops’ tribute to Jerry Herman, as well as appearing on two of the Boston Pops’ annual “Pops Goes the Fourth of July” celebrations for television.

In concert, Mazzie has performed with numerous conductors, including Michael Tilson Thomas, Marvin Hamlisch, Skitch Henderson, Keith Lockhart, Paul Gemignani, Peter Nero, Patrick Summers, John Mauceri and Doc Severinsen.

With her husband, Jason Danieley, she has performed their concert “Opposite You” nationally, including at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency, Lincoln Center’s “American Songbook” series, Joe’s Pub, the Cinegrill. The album of “Opposite You” was heralded by NPR as “the album of the year.”

Phil Reno will accompany Mazzie on the piano. A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Reno is a Grammy-nominated Broadway conductor of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “Elf,” “Promises, Promises” (featuring Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes), “The Producers” (starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lang), “Cats,” “Thou Shalt Not” (composed by Harry Connick Jr.) and “Broadway Under the Stars.” He recently conducted the pre-Broadway tryouts of “Minsky’s” and “Sleepless in Seattle: The Music” in Los Angeles.
