The Young Riders' Clinic is a week-long educational experience for young riders to experience college life on a small scale. Students will stay in college dorms and will utilize the campus facilities in the evening. During the day they will receive instruction from The University of Findlay equestrian instructors. Students will bring their own horse or can lease a horse from The University of Findlay for an additional fee.

Clinic Fees
Cost: $615 includes the following:

• Room and Board (Sunday - Friday)
• Horse's Board (feed, bedding, etc.)
• Instruction (Two lessons per day, seminars, etc.)
• Transportation to and from farm (Provided by The University of Findlay van service)
• Evening Recreation activities (scavenger hunt, swimming, games, movies)
• Group Photo

* $200 Deposit due with application. Remaining $415 balance due upon arrival.

Need to lease a horse?
The University of Findlay has a limited number of horses* available for lease on a first come basis, (when we receive the application and deposit), during the camps for a fee of $175. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to reserve a horse.
* Availability is based on order that deposits are received.

Driving Directions
The University of Findlay is located in Findlay, Ohio. Findlay is a small city that's pleasant and progressive. Conveniently accessed from I-75, Findlay maintains a central location that attracts students from all directions. The city of Findlay has been designated as a "dream town" by Demographics Daily, an online newsletter that rated the quality of life in 632 small cities nationwide. Findlay also has been named the "best" micropolitan community in Ohio.

Directions to the James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex:

From The University of Findlay Campus:
Take Main Street south from the Main Campus. You will go through the downtown area of town. Continue past the beautiful old houses of downtown Findlay. After you pass the Servex Shopping Plaza you will come to Olive Street. Turn left on Olive St. Turn right onto County Road 201. The English farm is located on the corner of Olive St. and CR 201. Turn right at the first driveway, and the lobby is located in the left wing of the barn.

From Detroit or Toledo:

Take 1-75 South go to exit 156 and follow the loop around onto 15/23 to Columbus. Exit at the State Route 68 exit. Turn left onto State Route 68 and go approximately two miles and Olive Street will be on your right. (Just before the Servex shopping plaza). Turn right onto Olive Street and go to the stop sign. Turn right and the farm drive is 50 yards on the right.

From Cincinnati or Dayton:
Take 1-75 North exit at 156 onto 15/23 to Columbus. Exit at the State Route 68 exit. Turn left onto State Route 68 and go approximately two miles and Olive Street will be on your right. (Just before the Servex shopping plaza). Turn right onto Olive Street and go to the stop sign. Turn right and the farm drive is 50 yards on the right.

From Columbus Airport:
Take 670 West to 1-71 North to 270 West to 23 North. Follow 23 to Carey where the road name will change to State Route 15 West. Exit at the State Route 68 exit. Turn right onto State Route 68 and go approximately two miles and Olive Street will be on your right. (Just before the Servex Shopping plaza). Turn right onto Olive Street and go to the Stop sign. Turn right and the farm drive is 50 yards on the right.

The following vaccinations are required: Negative Coggins, Flu, Rhino and Strangles; Tetanus is strongly recommended. Please deworm your horse a couple weeks prior to arrival. Please bring records to verify this information.
The stall bedding, cleaning equipment, feed and water buckets are provided by the University. You may bring your own feed. Parking is available if you prefer to leave your trailer.

Young Riders Program
The University of Findlay is proud to present an English Riding Clinic to further educate interested young riders. The clinic will offer the same techniques taught in the University's English Equestrian Studies Program. The University’s program equestrian instructors and graduate assistants will supply the instruction. Instruction will include fundamentals of equitation, beginner/intermediate/advanced jumping techniques, principles of dressage and stable management skills. Each student will work with his or her own horse under the personal supervision of the equestrian staff. Lectures and demonstrations will be given daily to enhance students' skills. Along with individual and class instruction and videotaping, there will be video analysis, recreational activities and access to facilities at The University of Findlay (including the indoor swimming pool and ice-skating rink). The clinics will be offered in June and applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. Enrollment is limited to 30 students and fills quickly. Upon acceptance, a confirmation letter will be sent with further details. A limited number of school owned horses are available for lease during camp.
