Chad Benedict
Class of 2007, Computer Science Major
As a senior computer science major, Chad Benedict has built an impressive résumé that reflects the numerous skills and achievements he has obtained through five years of work experience, two co-ops and completion of more than 100 credit hours during his time at UF.
While Chad is currently more than qualified to enter the working world after graduating this spring, he can remember a time when he wasn’t so prepared. “When I came to the University, I knew what field I wanted to be in, but I wasn’t really sure what I could do, or wanted to do, with my degree.” Fortunately, the UF faculty was able to change all of that by showing genuine concern for his success not only in his education, but in his career as well. Chad’s faculty adviser showed him the vast career possibilities in computer science by helping him schedule the right courses and presenting him with various internship opportunities. “My adviser helped me get an internship that has proved to be beneficial to my education and to my course work. Through my internships, I’ve been able to display the knowledge I learned in class and have been able to build on those skills on the job. My internships have also given me more confidence when working with people, and I have found that I can transfer those skills over to my classes,” said Chad. He also values the University’s personalized student instruction that accompanies the small class sizes. “With smaller class sizes the learning is more engaged and the faculty care about my learning experience,” explained Chad. “The faculty are more than willing to help you achieve the level of knowledge and success you want, and connecting with them has been one of the best experiences I’ve had here,” he added. “I know that I definitely made a good choice by coming to The University of Findlay.” By Diana Musgrave ’08Communication MajorArlington, Ohio
