Mindy Gayheart ’08
Class of 2008, Hospitality Management Major
Since coming to The University of Findlay as a hospitality management major, Mindy Gayheart ’08 has been preparing herself for a career in corporate hotel meeting planning. She has served on various committees, participated in clubs and organizations as well as held a variety of on-campus jobs. She also has held two internships with Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
While Mindy’s efforts thus far have been quite rewarding, she attributes a great deal of her success to the UF faculty.
“The faculty helped me to always push myself academically and become more involved to gain more professional experience. The faculty on campus have given me many opportunities to not only build up my résumé, but also hold great student leadership positions,” said Mindy.
On campus, Mindy has gained experience as a special event coordinator, culinary staff member and resident assistant. Mindy also has gained experience through working at the Village Café, a student-run restaurant. At Walt Disney World, she has worked as a resort cast member and blitz participant for the Swan and Dolphin Resort where she plans to pursue a career upon graduation.
Mindy gained a variety of experiences during her internship experience.
While working at Walt Disney World, Mindy met many people from diverse backgrounds.
“The networking connections that I have made through The University of Findlay have helped me to secure a number of job opportunities before and after I graduate,” said Mindy.
However, graduation for Mindy will be bittersweet because although Mindy is excited to pursue a career with Walt Disney World, she will miss Findlay’s warm, hospitable environment that welcomed her from the very beginning.
“I made my decision to come to Findlay because it just felt like home the minute I stepped onto the campus the first time. The faculty and student body have helped me to grow in many respects both socially and academically,” said Mindy. “They have become my friends and family.”
