Pamela Bullock ’07, M’10
Master of Arts in Education
Hometown: Zanesville, Ohio

Pamela BullockPamela Bullock’s experience at The University of Findlay began her sophomore year when she transferred from the University of Akron for a track scholarship.

Now, as a graduate student in the master of arts in education (intervention specialist) program, Bullock says the relocation to UF was definitely the right choice for her.

“I had to red-shirt my first year,” said Bullock. “Then I transferred here and it was the best move I have ever made — athletically and academically.”

As an undergraduate student-athlete in track and field and tennis, Bullock earned a multitude of awards. In track, she was a seven-time Academic All-American and a five-time Track and Field All-American, among other honors, and was the recipient of the 2008 University of Findlay Mancuso Female Student-Athlete of the Year award. While on the tennis team, Bullock was named the Coca-Cola Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2006.

Bullock graduated in December 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.

Her motivation for success stems from her family – specifically, her sister.

“At a very young age, my sister was diagnosed with a heart condition that she battled until the age of 12. She went through a six-hour procedure to have it corrected and has overcome every obstacle since,” said Bullock. “It is because of her and the sacrifices she’s made that I have been blessed to have the support from her and my parents so that I could, and still can, pursue my dreams, both in the classroom and on the track!”

A native of Zanesville, Ohio, Bullock has enjoyed her time in Findlay and is currently tutoring and fulfilling a long-term substitute position at Van Buren Elementary School – along with working in the Teacher Resource Center in the education department.

Upon graduation, Bullock says she will miss many things about the University.

“Specifically, I will miss walking down the hall of the education building and talking with all of the professors who have guided me throughout the years,” said Bullock. “It is nice to be able to receive advice and knowledge from those who have already been in my shoes.”

Bullock says her biggest accomplishment at UF has been balancing academics and athletics, which in turn prepared her for the intensity of graduate school. And now, she feels prepared to take on whatever the future holds.

“My goals for the future are simply to teach, to have a family and to love my job for life. The University has stretched me beyond belief by allowing me to see just how strong of a person I am,” said Bullock. “It is because of the assurance the faculty and staff has freely given me that I will walk out of here with the confidence that I will need in order to succeed at the next level. I owe it all to God, family, teammates and friends, and the support of The University of Findlay!”
