President's Welcome Message

President's Welcome Message

Welcome to The University of Findlay’s website.

Dr. DeBow FreedThe University of Findlay is the largest and most diverse private educational institution in northwest Ohio, with a total enrollment of more than 4,000 full-time and part-time students. We offer 65 majors leading to baccalaureate degrees and eight graduate degrees. Findlay is a flexible, forward-looking university that continually adapts programs and teaching methods to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s careers.

Bachelor’s degree requirements include a solid
academic major curriculum combined with a liberal arts
foundation. Students also are encouraged to participate in campus-sponsored service learning projects and to prepare for their chosen careers through co-op and internship experiences.

Of 2,700 full-time undergraduates, 1,200 live in campus housing. Campus activities abound with 75 clubs and organizations, intramural sports and 23 intercollegiate athletic teams. Theatre productions, art exhibits and music concerts offer creative outlets and serve as a source of cultural enrichment for the campus and community.

Findlay’s diverse student population includes more than 400 international students from more than 40 countries, bringing a flavor of world cultures to campus. UF ranks high amoung U.S. institutions of our type for the number and percentage of international students we enroll.

Education at The University of Findlay is offered in ways that accommodate students of all ages. Many students have time-pressured lifestyles and multiple responsibilities. In addition to traditional weekday classes, Findlay offers courses at night, on weekends and over the Internet.

Findlay’s longest-standing tradition is a faculty focused on students, providing individual academic advising and personal attention. Alumni and current students alike cite close relationships with faculty members as hallmarks of their educational experiences at Findlay. Faculty are also involved with research and publishing, participating in professional organizations and presenting at conferences, but their first love is teaching students.

The University of Findlay is fortunate in its location. The city of Findlay, population 38,000, has been named one of the best communities in Ohio and one of the top places to live in the United States. Findlay consistently has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Ohio and offers students opportunities for internships and employment, as well as for recreation and shopping.
