President’s Welcome Message

President’s Welcome Message

Katherine Fell, Ph.D.The University of Findlay is a place of learning — a sacred space.

Students, faculty, staff and friends gather on our beautiful campus and throughout the world by virtual connections to exchange ideas, to share knowledge, and to experience life more deeply. I invite you to engage fully in this joyous endeavor.

In my early days at The University, I am learning:
  • that  six colleges and 60 majors mean our students have  great choices.that our faculty are among the best in the world.
  • that everyone on campus is an educator: groundskeepers show students how to make tulips thrive, administrators explain the intricacies of financial aid to prospective students and their families, executive assistants describe the generous donors who made the Great Hall possible,  volunteer docents become almost luminescent themselves as they explain the play of color and lines in one of the more than 4,000 pieces of art in the Mazza Museum.
  • that our 23 athletics teams exemplify the NCAA Division II principle of life in the balance: our student athletes are students first, and their performance as athletes is all the better for it.
  • that the free exchange of ideas is alive and well on a campus respectful of the mystery of faith and the rigor of logical inquiry.
  • that our mission is values-based; our students live out their values by helping others near and far: building homes, serving food, tutoring children.
  • that the city of Findlay and The University of Findlay are integrally connected: the city has a long history of embracing and supporting the University; partnering with the Churches of God, General Conference, the city founded the University and has supported it from its beginning;  having  won national recognition as  one of the 40 most attractive small cities in the U.S. by BizJournals.com, and the only city in Ohio to have been named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People three consecutive times by America’s Promise Alliance, the city is the perfect setting for a place set aside for learning.

Whether you are a newcomer to or a longtime member of The University of Findlay, I hope you find this academic year filled with new possibilities for meaningful learning.
