It is recommended that students begin building strong resumes through meaningful experiences prior to graduation.
For students in The University of Findlay’s College of Business, learning extends beyond the traditional classroom setting. Department faculty are also active advocates of students gaining internship experiences. Faculty members serve as liaisons between students and institutions to assist with the coordination of internship opportunities.
Benefits from internship/co-op experience include:
Acquire practical, hands-on experience
Earn academic credit that may count toward your degree program
Create a network of professional contacts, mentors and references
Gain interview experience
Validate career decisions
May offer experiences such as cultural or living in a larger metropolitan location
Increase marketability/value to potential employers–they often look at interns first to fill positions
The department strongly encourages students to broaden their perspective and understanding of the theories of business. One way this can be accomplished is by participating in overseas internship programs.
Department faculty have led trips to Switzerland to study international business, to Japan and China to study business culture, and to various cities throughout the United States for intimate, in-depth, week long conferences and co-ops.
In addition to these international opportunities, the College of Business at The University of Findlay offers a range of hands-on learning experiences that are closer to campus. There are many internship opportunities at area organizations such as Dana Corporation, Cooper Tire & Rubber, Marathon Oil Company and Whirlpool Corporation.
