​The Village Cafe, an on campus restaurant open to the public, provides students in the hospitality management program a unique hands on learning opportunity. Knowledge gained includes the fundamentals of dining room management, basic and advanced cooking, cooking for large quantities and menu creation.  In this living classroom, students mirror services provided by innovative public dining facilities.


Travel consistently to top tier hotels in select cities working with sales professionals. Students experience first hand how sales and marketing professionals function in their roles, while assisting with and conducting the actual sales call. 


Opportunity to attend the industry’s top shows such as the National Restaurant Show, the New York Hotel & Lodging Show and the Professional Convention Management Association Convention, just to name a few.


Outstanding internship opportunities with many of our students working at the most well known and unique hotels, resorts and facilities in the United States.


Hospitality Management Club

The Hospitality Management Club is involved in numerous community programs. We host, with help from numerous other clubs on campus, a Christmas program for children in Findlay every year. Christmas on Campus, as we call it, is always a lot of fun and we always have a good turnout from the community and other clubs.

 
Listed below are the other business related clubs and potential certification options that provide students with hands on experience and skills to build a solid resume before they graduate.



Accounting Club

The purpose of the Institute of Managerial Accounting (IMA)​ Student Club is to further the objectives of the IMA on the student level.  The IMA provides an environment for research, practice improvement, education, knowledge sharing, and the encouragement of high ethical and business practices in management accounting and finance.

 

Corporate Partnerships

As corporate partners, both businesses and MBA students are provided with advantages such as tuition savings, free books and other special event-related benefits.


Dana Scholars

The University of Findlay College of Business Dana Chair/Scholar Program provides an opportunity for business students to connect to higher education with the real world of business.   


A 1991 donation from the Dana Corporation established the Dana Chair to utilize the ”Executive-in-Residence” concept on campus.  The program officially started in 1995 with the original intent that each academic year’s Dana Chair would provide leadership in bonding education and business.  


The Dana Chair serves as a team builder and provides leadership in the undergraduate business program.  Dana Scholars are chosen by the College of Business faculty and, as such, are recognized as outstanding students in the College of Business for their academic and leadership skills. 


Entrepreneurship Club

Association for Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses 


The purpose of AESB is to advance knowledge and foster business development through entrepreneurship education, research, practice and networking.


Health Care Management Network  

The aim and purpose o the HCM Network is to provide an organization for all health care students where they can share information, conduct activities, and plan for future careers in the administrative and management areas of the health care field.  


The HCM Network consists of professional and pre-professional students from The University of Findlay who are interested in the health care field.  As graduates and undergraduates, they aspire to become leaders in the growing health care industry.


Oiler Enterprises (student run businesses)

Oiler Enterprises is the essence of experiential learning! The mission of Oiler Enterprises is to provide students with opportunities to work in and run their own business, enabling students to gain valuable life and business skills, enhancing their academic experience, and preparing them for productive careers. Any student at the university is welcome to get involved in some manner, whether it as an employee, manager or developer of a business. Students need not be in the College of Business to take advantage of this opportunity. Students interested in developing a business are encouraged to write a business plan and present the idea to the Oiler Enterprises Board for approval… More about that under “How to propose a new business”. 


Marketing Club

Marketing Club activities include Extreme Marketing Makeovers – (team competition to develop marketing ideas for small businesses ), SWOT teams – (develop quick solutions for small businesses), assisting small businesses, on-campus activities like Deck the Trees, and more!  


Networking Opportunities

Students will have regular access to and networking opportunities with internationally recognized leaders, high-level business executives and entrepreneurs.  


Many successful alumni are actively involved with the University and use their connections to offer opportunities for job shadowing, internships and in some cases, employment opportunities.

 

Rotaract 

Rotaract clubs are part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level but knows no limits in its outreach. Rotaractors have access to the many resources of Rotary International (RI) and The Rotary Foundation​. Rotary International provides the administrative support that helps Rotaract clubs thrive.


SAP

College of business courses have incorporated SAP(Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing) training into their undergraduate courses – and increasing graduates’ marketability at the same time.

 

SAP is used in more than 50 countries worldwide by companies such as Marathon,Cooper Tire and Rubber Co., Coca-Cola Co., Procter and Gamble, Owens Corning, First Solar and a majority of Fortune 500 companies. Training employees in the enterprise resource planning software can cost thousands of dollars, but hiring an employee who already knows the basics of SAP can cut down training time dramatically. 

 

SHRM  

The Society for Human Resource Management, or SHRM, is the world's largest association dedicated to the human resource profession.  SHRM has over 575 affiliated chapters within 140 countries globally. Students involved in SHRM at The University of Findlay engage in activities that will be directly related to their future careers.  Students gain experiential knowledge and networking with seasoned professionals by attending local SHRM chapter meetings. 


S.I.F.E.   

SIFE​ (Students in Free Enterprise) is a program which allows college students from around the world to make and incorporate business ideas that can range from recycling programs and education on their college campus to teaching people to farm more productively and helping them sell their crops. The goal of SIFE is to help others to make an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable impact through the use of business tools and techniques.    


Six Sigma Green Belt

Offered as part of a master's class (MBA 685), Six Sigma Green Belt Certification teaches a statistical approach to business problem solving, which can be used to solve problems like inefficiency in the manufacturing industry.   

The coursework and preparation for the certification helps students develop and advance their statistic skills and apply them to practical business and manufacturing settings.


Study Abroad Opportunities

Students can expand their cultural experiences and learn global business practices by studying in places such as India and Japan.
