About Us
Findlay College was founded in 1882 by the citizens of the city of Findlay and the Churches of God, General Conference. The institution changed its name to The University of Findlay in 1989 to reflect the dynamic growth in enrollment and the diversity of academic offerings available, including the addition of graduate programs.
The University of Findlay is a flexible, forward-looking institution that is constantly seeking ways to better serve students and the community. In today’s fast-paced world, The University of Findlay is continually adapting programs and teaching methods to meet the needs of current students who are preparing for tomorrow’s careers.
The City of Findlay has been designated a “dreamtown” by Demographics Daily, repeatedly named one of the top 20 micropolitan areas (small towns) in the United States by Site Selection magazine and is the only municipality in Ohio to be selected three times as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People by America’s Promise.
The University of Findlay offers a unique global perspective both academically and socially through its international student population, numbering more than 500 and hailing from 25 countries and territories around the world.
The University of Findlay ranks in the top tier of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” and has been included on the “A+ Schools for B Students” list in the Midwest and it was named a Best Midwestern College by the Princeton Review for the past four years. It has been recognized as one of “America’s Best Private Colleges” by Institutional Research and Evaluation Inc., an independent research organization specializing in higher education.
The University of Findlay is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and The University of Findlay’s programs are authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents. The College of Business has been formally designated as a “candidate” for a specialized business accreditation by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs).
