School District Leader (Superintendent)
You can add a superintendent license to a valid professional teacher license if you hold a principal or administrative specialist license. With this license, you can teach in the areas designated on your teaching license, supervise programs for children in ages three through twenty-one (prekindergarten through grade twelve), and/or perform administrative duties in a school system (superintendent). To earn your School District Leader (Superintendent) license, you must also meet the following requirements:
- Three years of successful experience in a position requiring a principal or administrative specialist license;
- Completion of an approved preparation program for superintendents; and
- Pass a criminal background check.
