Field and Clinical Experiences
The Early Childhood program provides field experience during each level of your education coursework. In EDUC 161 and EDFI 503, students have their first field experience. In EDUC 265, sophomore block students begin planning lessons and teach within their content area. During your junior year or EDCI 540, teacher candidates have a "mini" student teaching experience being placed in a preschool for eight weeks. Your field experience culminates with student teaching. Teacher candidates are required to complete coursework prior to student teaching.
If you plan to student teach in the fall, apply by April 1. If you plan to student teach in the spring, apply by November 1. Applications are sent to Connie Leatherman, Director of Field Placement.
Your student teaching application, personal data sheet and log sheets are located in the Student Resources section of the College of Education home page.
