Candidate Assessment
We care about your progress. To track your performance and assist you to become a highly effective teacher, the College of Education has a system of benchmark assessments at defined gateways related to the standards defined by each program area's specialized professional association (SPA). Licensure assessments are linked to required courses in each program. You may be required to keep a portfolio to show you have met all standards of your licensure area, since the College of Education carefully monitors student performance on assessments. We make program changes when the assessment data show us a need to adjust the programs.
Most prospective teachers are required to pass a Praxis II test before applying for licensure. The College of Education provides Praxis II test preparation seminars every semester. See
Patty Holcomb
or
Dr. Elizabeth Raker
for times and places.
Educational Testing Service
also provides test preparation materials and web-based practice tests.
