Grant Activities
Thanks to the support of the Hancock County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board and The Community Foundation (TCF) occupational therapy services are being infused into the community mental health system at largeIn the fall of 2003 the Occupational Therapy Program joined with the ADAMHS Board in executing a state funded Housing and Employment Infusion Grant focused on improving vocational services for seriously mentally ill consumers in the community. This opportunity was followed by a 3-year grant from TCF which involved the provision of services by occupational therapy fieldwork students to clients of Century Health, the community mental health center. Assistant Professor Rosalie King was involved with both grant activities and provided supervision for the students, while Mary Beth Dillon, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, carried out responsibilities for the placement and coordination of students. Upon the successful completion of this grant the TCF awarded a second grant to actually hire an occupational therapist for the system at large. Responsibilities of this position include program development and supervision of occupational therapy fieldwork students at the Family Resource Center, Century Health, Focus on Friends, and Fostoria Junction.
