Application Instructions

Policies Regarding Advanced Placement and Transfer Credit:

  1. No previous academic work or Advanced Placement testing will be accepted for credit towards the MPA degree awarded by The University of Findlay upon completion of the Physician Assistant Program course of study
  2. The University of Findlay Physician Assistant Programs will not accept transfer students from other Physician Assistant programs  

To make application of the University of Findlay MPA Program:

  1. Apply to The University of Findlay. The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies and The University of Findlay accept the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistant as an application to The University of Findlay.
  2. Assistant (CASPA) application in lieu of the official application to the University. Applicants are not required to submit both a CASPA application and an application to The University of Findlay.
    • Applications will be processed in a first-come, first-served basis. 
    • Those applicants with all requirements for admission met at time of application are awarded a small priority in the admissions process.
      • This does not exclude any qualified applicant from a chance of being admitted into the program.
  3. Electronically complete and submit Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistant (CASPA) application found at: https://portal.caspaonline.org/ by the published deadlines.  Follow the guidelines for submission as stated on the CASPA Web site.   
  4. The deadline for CASPA submission is January 15, 2012 for the August 2012 starting date. February 15, 2012 will be the last day the program will accept applications and information from CASPA.
  5. Transcript Requirements
    • Request all official post-secondary transcripts to be sent to CASPA when you apply to CASPA.
    • Request all official post-secondary transcripts to be sent to Graduate and Professional Studies at The University of Findlay when you apply to CASPA. The program does not award credit for  audited courses, volunteer, and/or employment experiences.
  6. Submit a complete Supplemental Application along with a $50 non-refundable Supplemental Application fee. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the Program Interview and Admission Committee. All components, with the exception of transcripts, MUST be submitted via U.S. Mail to the PA Program Office as one complete Supplemental Application package no later than two weeks after receipt. The Supplemental Application will be sent to the applicant either electronically or by U.S. Mail.
    • The Supplemental Application will automatically be sent to any qualified applicant upon receipt of a completed CASPA application.
  7. Submit Health Care Experience Documentation Form with Supplemental Application Form as necessary.
    • The Health Care Experience Documentation Form is only necessary for health care experiences obtained after submission of your CASPA application to document completion of the required number of hours.
    • You may combine your shadowing, volunteer and employment experience for a sum of 500 or more hours. The hours must be patient contact health care experience.
    • Record the required information listed on the Health Care Experience Documentation Form. One form MUST be collected for each experience.

  8. Submit a typed Personal Statement with the Supplemental Application following the specific guidelines found at the Statement Guidelines link.
  9. Submit a Résumé with Supplemental Application Form. (must be typed).
  10. The University of Findlay Physician Assistant Program has no specific requirements concerning letters of recommendation. Applicants are encouraged to obtain letters of recommendation from the following sources:
    • PA-C, MD, DO or CRNP and reflect on your motivation for becoming a PA
    • An academic reference attesting to your intellectual abilities
    • One letter from a work-related supervisor or colleague who could reflect on your personal qualities
  11. All letters of recommendation are submitted as part of the CASPA application.

The program reserves the right to extend the application deadlines.

ONLY complete applications will be reviewed by the Interview and Admissions Committee!
