Application Instructions

Policies Regarding Advanced Placement and Transfer Credit:

  • No previous academic work or Advanced Placement testing will be accepted for credit towards the MPA degree awarded by The University of Findlay upon completion of the Physician Assitant Program course of study
  • The University of Findlay Physician Assistant Programs will not accept transfer students from other Physician Assistant programs  

To make application of the University of Findlay MPA Program:

1.    All deadlines are listed on the Application Deadline and Checksheet

2.    Electronically submit Central Application Service for Physician Assistant (CASPA) application found at: https://portal.caspaonline.org/ Follow the guidelines for submission as stated on the CASPA Web site

3    The deadline for CASPA submission is June 15th for the following January starting date.  July 15th will be the last day the program will accept applications and information from CASPA.

      a) The program reserves the right to extend the deadline

NOTE: (June 22, 2010) - The deadlines for applications for the class matriculating in January 2011 have been extended as follows:
      a) Deadline for CASPA submission is August 1, 2010
      b) Deadline for the program accepting CASPA application materials is September 1, 2010

Applications will be processed in a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications received in August may receive a lower priority in processing or get wait-listed if the class has filled

It is strongly recommended that interested applicants apply well in advance of the deadlines

4.   a.) Request all official post-secondary transcripts to be sent to CASPA when you apply to CASPA

      b.) Request all official post-secondary transcripts to be sent to Graduate and Professional Studies at The University of Findlay when you apply to CASPA. The program does not award credit for  audited courses, volunteer, and/or employment experiences

5.   Submit a complete Supplemental Application along with a $50 non-refundable Supplemental Application fee. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the Program Interview and Admission Committee. All components, with the exception of transcripts, MUST be submitted via U.S. Mail to the PA Program Office as one complete Supplemental Application package no later than two weeks after receipt. The Supplemental Application will be sent to the applicant either electronically or by U.S. Mail

6.   Submit Health Care Experience Documentation Form with Supplemental Application Form as necessary. You may combine your shadowing, volunteer and employment experience for a sum of 500 or more hours. The hours must be patient contact health care experience.

The Health Care Experience Documentation Form is only necessary for health care experiences obtained after submission of your CASPA application

Record the required information listed on the Health Care Experience Documentation Form. One form MUST be collected for each experience

7.   Submit a typed Personal Statement with the Supplemental Application following the specific guidelines found at the Statement Guidelines link.

8.   Submit a Résumé with Supplemental Application Form. (must be typed)

9.   The University of Findlay Physician Assistant Program has specific requirements concerning letters of recommendation. These criteria are:

  • One letter must be from a PA-C, MD, DO or CRNP and reflect on your motivation for becoming a PA 
  • One letter must be from an academic reference attesting to your intellectual abilities
  • One letter must be from a work-related supervisor or colleague who could reflect on your personal qualities

These requirements may be met by either submitting letters of recommendation that comply with these guidelines to CASPA or by submitting up to three recommendation letters needed to meet these requirements with the Supplemental Application
