CLINICAL EDUCATION (AFFILIATIONS)
Clinical education is considered an integral component of the physical therapy curriculum, including integrated clinical assignments and full time clinical affiliations. Integrated clinical assignments are intended to assist students with understanding the academic course work in the clinical setting. The full time clinical affiliations are designed to provide students with a supervised, concentrated course of study in which they are given opportunities to apply theory and practice learned skills in the clinic setting.
There are over 500 clinical sites that students may have assignments with; however, the program is open to the development of new clinical sites. The current list of clinical sites are located throughout the country and can offer a great variety of learning experiences. Possible clinical sites include sports medicine clinics, industrial rehabilitation programs, school systems, Mental Retardation & Developmental Disability facilities, aquatics programs, Veterans Administration institutions, and many more! Learning experiences address all practice patterns (i.e., neuromuscular system, musculoskeletal system, integumentary system, and cardiopulmonary system) and all ages across the life span.
