Points of Pride
| Qualified and experienced faculty. Courses are taught by a variety of health care professionals including athletic trainers, physicians and physical therapists. All faculty have experience as practitioners which allows them to bring real world examples and experiences into the classroom. Plus, several other local practitioners in a variety of fields guest lecture. |

A strong foundation in human anatomy is essential to practicing as an athletic trainer. UF athletic training students take two semesters of gross anatomy with cadaver dissection. |

BCHS serves as the home for the Athletic Training Education Program as well as a number of other programs in the COHP. It contains the designated Athletic Training Classroom/Lab, a computer lab, a sports medicine clinic and the gross anatomy lab. |
| All students will complete rotations in NCAA II intercollegiate athletics, local High School athletics, an equipment intensive environment and a rehabilitation intensive environment. Each student will also complete rotations with a variety of patient populations and types of injuries. Students also have the opportunity to participate in experiences with other health care providers including orthopedic surgeons(office and surgery), EMT-paramedics, The University of Findlay Cosiano Health Center and others. |
| High Level NCAA II Athletics. The University of Findlay is competitive in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference and at the NCAA II level in multiple sports. Check out the athletics website for more details. Findlay fields 23 intercollegiate athletic teams with over 650 student-athletes. |

| College of Health Professions(COHP). The MAT is housed within COHP which provides early interaction and collegiality with a variety of other health care professionals and students. There are a number of courses that are taken with students of other health care professions. |
| Technology. Students are exposed to a significant amount of technology. All athletic training courses are developed with Blackboard (which is a web-based course environment) support. Furthermore, students use all Windows Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) plus a statistics program (SPSS). Students also learn to use and apply digital technology (e.g., still camera, digital video, scanners, etc.). |

Nationally, over 65% of BOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) have a master's degree or higher. Furthermore, more job descriptions are requiring or preferring a master's degree. |
| There are only 18 CAATE accredited entry-level Master Athletic Training programs in the world. The MAT at Findlay is the only such program in Ohio and the mid-western Great Lakes area. The closest similar programs are more than 350 miles away. |
