Welcome to the web site for the Strength and Conditioning Program in the College of Health Professions at The University of Findlay. We are one of fifty-eight schools in the United States that offers a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recognized program. Acceptance into the Education Recognition Program (ERP) means that The University of Findlay educational program in strength and conditioning met the guidelines set by the NSCA in 2001. Upon completion of this major, you will be well-prepared to sit for the National Strength and Conditioning Association's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist's (CSCS) examination.
A major in Strength and Conditioning consists of a pre-professional and a professional curriculum. Students successfully completing the pre-strength and conditioning program will apply for admission to the professional program. In addition, many strength and conditioning students also pursue graduate study in athletic training or physical therapy. Students in strength and conditioning can receive a bachelor of science degree in strength and conditioning or an associate of arts degree in personal training.
The field of strength and conditioning has emerged as a respected profession. With its roots embedded in early foundations of physical fitness and weight training, personal trainers and strength coaches today are required to possess a wide range of skills and talents. Today many health clubs, corporate fitness centers, therapy clinics, YMCAs, colleges and universities hire strength and conditioning specialists.
