Professor Selected as Fulbright Scholar

Professor Mickey is shown with some of his students at the State University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince.

Barry Mickey, professor of social work and director of the social work program, was selected as a Fullbright scholar in 2003 and spent the year teaching social work at the State University of Haiti in Port-au-Prince.

While there he taught courses in group work, community organization, and conducted research on the international adoption of children. Over the past several years Professor Mickey has taken several groups of students on cultural immersion experiences in Haiti to study the social welfare system in that country and to visit with Haitian social workers, educators, students, and government officials.
