Student Organizations
THE UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY SOCIAL WORK CLUB
Officially
recognized as a student organization by the University, the Social Work
Club gives you an opportunity to implement those philosophies and
values taught and learned in the classroom. It also encourages students
and faculty to become better acquainted with each other outside the
classroom. You will participate in such activities as professional
seminars/forums, field trips, community service and philanthropic
projects, all of which allow expansion of knowledge about the social
work profession. In recent years field trips have been taken to such
diverse locations as the State Mental Hospital in Toledo, Native
American powwows, state adult and juvenile correctional institutions,
and the annual meeting of the Ohio College Association of Social Work
Educators. The club has also raked leaves for elderly homeowners,
helped raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society,
videotaped life histories of senior citizens, and hosted the annual
dance for the local senior citizens' center.
Members of the club
also have the opportunity to participate in the development of changes
in the Social Work Program by serving on the Social Work Program
Advisory Council.
More information about the club may be obtained from social work faculty or student members of the club.
