GRE Scores are not required for admission to the MALS Program.

To apply for admission MALS program, an applicant must:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in the last 64 semester hours of undergraduate work.
  • Submit an application form.
  • Pay a $25 one-time application fee. Note: the application fee is waved for international students.
  • Supply three letters of recommendation Submit official transcripts of all college-level work.
  • Degree-seeking students who are non-native speakers of English: a minimum TOFEL score of 550 is required.
  • Provide an affidavit of financial support (original), if not an American citizen.
  • An interview with the MALS Program Director is required of all students who wish to enter the MALS Program. The purpose of this contact, whether by phone or in person, is to gain a basic understanding of the student’s research interests, needs and goals. Note: international students may fulfill this requirement after arriving on campus.
Undergraduate Honors students are invited and encouraged to register for Graduate Seminars. Honors students register through their adviser during spring and fall scheduled registration. Graduate classes designated for Honors students are listed each semester in the Undergraduate Course Schedule under the Humanities Prefix HUMN 499.
