Work and Internship Opportunities
It is possible for international students who have
graduated from the Masters in TESOL/Bilingual Education to stay in the
United States for an extra year to work and get practical
experience. The two paths that a student can take are to
apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Optional
Practical Training (OPT).
Curricular Practical Training
Work experience that is directly related to
ESL teaching may be considered for CPT. This includes internships
or practicum programs organized through the TESOL/Bilingual
department.
Optional Practical Training
Under
the OPT option, a student may be able to work in a job directly related
to the TESOL/Bilingual area of study. The maximum time for such
work is one year. The OPT option can be pursued either during or
after completion of a student's academic coursework.
