Facilities


2-D Studios
The University of Findlay Art Program has three 2-D studio facilities in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.  Students have access to these spaces every day of the week from 8am-midnight, and locked storage is provided for student materials.

  • The painting studio is equipped for 20 students including beginning, advanced and upper-level independent study.
  • The printmaking studio houses three printing presses and is equipped for students to study relief and etching printing processes.
  • The drawing studio is utilized for a variety of courses including drawing, watercolor and 2-D design.

  

GFAP 110 Mac Lab
The Graphic Design classroom is located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion in room 110. Students have access to the room during scheduled evening and weekend hours with an experienced design assistant on duty.

  • The lab contains 25 dual-boot Macintosh computers. With wide-screen monitors, graphic cards and the most recent version of the Adobe Creative Suite software, this computer lab is state-of-the-art.
  • Three flatbed scanners and a large format scanner that will accommodate bigger works of art.
  • A designated Design Jet printer can output posters up to 24” wide, and a color laser printer is available for printing on demand.
  • The instructor makes use of a large screen projector so students can follow along step-by-step with demonstrations.

 

Photography Studio
The photography studio is located on the second floor of the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. The studio is locked at all times, however students taking the course are allowed access through the key pad and combination. The studio is fully equipped and updated for beginning and advanced students.

  • Separate dark rooms for advanced and beginning level students.
  • 10 stations with brand new enlargers available for students.
  • Storage lockers are also available for students.

   

3-D Studios
The University of Findlay Art Program has two 3-D studio facilities, the ceramics house and quonset hut.   Students have access to these spaces every day of the week from 8am-midnight, and storage space is available.

  • Within the ceramics house, there are areas for wheel throwing and hand building as well as an additional room devoted to advanced ceramic students.  There are three electric kilns and one gas kiln.  In the fall of 2010, the new salt kiln was completed for student use.  
  • The quonset hut provides studio space for sculpture students and is equipped for woodworking, welding, and flat glass work.
