Art 495 and 455
The University of Findlay Art Program offers two classes, ART 495 – Professional Practices in Art and ART 455 – Senior Portfolio and Exhibition, which are specifically directed toward career preparation.
ART 495
–
Professional Practices in Art involves problems and projects related to a student’s major or area of concentration, and it is designed to give students the professional experiences necessary to pursue post-graduate studies or a career in the arts. This course is organized around each student’s individual needs, interests and strengths and involves one-on-one or small group meetings with advising professors. Students take part in a variety of activities including internships, community volunteer experiences, the development of personal artwork, and the development of work for clients.
ART 455
–
Senior Portfolio and Exhibition focuses on the preparation of a career portfolio and the organization and presentation of a senior exhibition. The career portfolio contains a resume, cover letter, artist statement and documentation of work. Students search for exhibition, internship, and job opportunities as well as masters programs. The senior exhibitions are organized and installed by the students and are evaluated by both the art faculty and an outside evaluator.
