At the University of Findlay, The Law and the Liberal Arts is an interdisciplinary program specifically designed for those students interested in a broadly based liberal arts education that focuses on the law.  The program is intended to stand as both an independent major within the College of Liberal Arts and as a preparatory program for those interested in law school.

Our program was developed after careful consultation with Ohio's nine law schools.  Each of these law schools participated in the creation of this major and the individual course selections.  And each of the program's requirements is designed to develop the necessary skills for admittance to - and success in! - law school or another legal career track.   Our program emphasizes the development of the following skills: logical reasoning, legal writing, reading skills, and communication skills that give our students the edge when it comes to succeeding in a law career.

Experienced and enthusiastic faculty. 
The University of Findlay's Law and Liberal Arts program boasts two well-qualified directors: Paul Chwialkowski, who obtained his law degree from the University of Toledo, and Mark Polelle, whose law degree is from Rutgers.  Both have passed the Ohio Bar Exam, so they know what the real world of law is like!

Personal advising. 
The professors in the law area will personally sign you up for every course you ever take at UF.  They pride themselves on writing good letters of recommendation for you before you graduate.  They will also help you prepare for tests like the LSAT (the test you need to take in order to be accepted into the law school of your choice).  UF's law professors will even help you fill out your law school applications and provide career advice if you choose not to go to law school!

The Law and Liberal Arts program is unique.
