Welcome
Is life sacred? Does God exist? What kind of person do I want to be?
How can I make a difference in the world? What do others treasure most
in life? What do people think about God, spirituality, service, and
core values? The vast majority of college students are not afraid of
grappling with these kinds of big questions. In fact many are
actively searching and curious about spiritual issues and meaning in
life. The Religious Studies area at The University of Findlay
offers students the opportunity to explore these burning questions in
an open and safe academic environment. Whether in a class on “Religious
Themes in Film,” “Jesus and the Gospels,” or “New Religious Movements,”
professors address issues that matter deeply to people, issues that
transcend the confines of any classroom and lead to what Henri Nouwen
has called “the unspeakable mystery of existence.”
Religious
studies, an interdisciplinary humanities field, serves the student body
as a whole as a course of study that is central to the general
education program. Religious studies also offers a major or minor
to students who desire to focus on the area. Those who are interested
in majoring in Religious Studies can choose from the following
concentrations: Biblical Studies, Christian Studies, Comparative Religion, or Individualized
Studies.
