Are you facinated by the development of human social behavior - our organizations, our society, and your role in both?  Then sociology is the discipline for you. 

Sociology is the study of social life and the major institutions that affect our lives - family, education, religion, government, economics, and health care.  This makes for an exciting major with many career possibilites.

The major in sociology at The University of Findlay will introduce you to the field with a range of courses covering the history of sociology, contemporary social problems, family, diversity, social stratification, and criminal behavior.  As a social science, social theory and research offer a foundation for study of all these important areas of social life. 

Sociology provides an opportunity to write your own individualized major, reflecting your interests and career aspirations, in consultation with your advisor.  A wide span of careers are available to the sociology major:  human services, human resources, teaching, and government service sectors.
