Student Organizations
The Wilderness Club is one of the largest clubs on campus. Our members are science majors and others who just love the outdoors! As a part of this organization, we share the same interests of Friendship, Environment and Adventure! Bi-weekly meetings are a time we use to organize our events for the semester and a time to meet with friends and enjoy activities. Pizza, popcorn and movies are common events throughout the semester. Our members love the great outdoors and thus we have dedicated ourselves to many conservation efforts. We have adopted a two mile stretch of the Blanchard River where we do a cleanup effort at least two times each year. We keep current on many governmental legislations that will harm the natural ecology of wildlife across the country. We have even traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby against such legislation. The adventures that we have participated in are too many to list! A recent trip involved camping, hiking, canoeing and horseback riding at Hocking Hills. Some of our past trips include traveling to Indiana to howl with the wolves, ski trips to New York and Michigan and visits to local zoos. At The Wildes, we even had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and pet a rhinoceros!
