Welcome to The University of Findlay, Area of Biology! 

Our goal is to produce graduates prepared to enter a professional/graduate program of study or to secure employment in the field of biology. 

Whether your interests include saving the rainforest or unraveling the secrets of DNA, we can prepare you for your future career or graduate school. We offer a solid biology major that allows you to tailor your degree to your interests.  With our broad base of courses, we will help you to compete in the ever-changing scientific community and job market.


 Schwaner Dr. Schwaner is a field biologist who uses molecular techniques to study the ecology of various reptile and amphibian species.  His research has taken him across the globe including- Amazonian Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas islands, Philippines, Peoples Republic of Vietnam, Iran, American Samoa, Australia (and Tasmania), and New Zealand.
We offer Field courses (BIOL415) that allow you to discover the biological diversity of various habitats in the United States.  Past trips have been to the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

 Tissue Culture Lab The new Davis Street Facility includes modern, molecular equipment that is used for instructional and research purposes.  Students can collaberate with faculty to complete research projects and present at the yearly Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity.
