Information Processing Minor

CONSIDER THE NEW INFORMATION PROCESSING MINOR

With today’s increase in the use of databases, spreadsheets, Web pages, and other software tools to help analyze and distribute information, the computer science area would like to promote the new minor in information processing to all majors on campus.  

Requirement – 7 of the following 9 courses [21 hours]: 

1. CSCI 150 – Introduction to Computers
    OR CSCI 148 – Educational Technology I
2. CSCI 152 – Presentation Graphics
3. CSCI 155 – Spreadsheet Design (or ACCT 180)
4. CSCI 157 – Database Applications
5. CSCI 158 – Web Page Design
6. CSCI 190 – Computer Science I
7. CSCI 270 – Web Page Development I
8. CSCI 285 – SQL Programming
9. One approved course from another discipline with a technology emphasis such as:

ART 205 – Introduction to Digital Design and Computing
BUAD 390 – Business Research
EDUC 260 – Technology Integration: Instructional Strategies
EQST 203 – Software Applications in Equine Business Management
SYSA 340 – Management Information Systems
ACCT 350 – Accounting Information Systems  

This would only require six extra technology courses in addition to the required computer competency course (CSCI 150, 148, 190) which is already in the list.
