Sample Courses and Syllabi

UF's computer science curriculum offers students a core of courses which provide a solid and well-rounded computer science experience.  Courses required for the chosen emphasis area, help distinguish UF students from traditional computer science majors making them well-suited to specialize in either business, computer systems, information assurance, mathematics, or Web and database applications. 

First-year students typically start in our freshman-level courses, CSCI 190 - Computer Science I and CSCI 192 - Introductory Java Programming.



CSCI 190: Computer Science I                                                  Syllabus
A first course in computer science, including an introduction to basic concepts in computer literacy and computer science, problem-solving through the use of microcomputer software packages and structured programming in Visual Basic.



CSCI 192: Introductory Java Programming                              Syllabus
This course is an early course in computer science with an emphasis on fundamental computer science concepts and the use of objects in Java.  Topics include basic computer science concepts, limited use of the Java GUI environment, conditional statements, sub procedures and functions, looping, arrays, and simple data structures.
