TEAM SPIRIT CHALLENGE - FRIDAY, APRIL 17

All of the participants were invited to decorate golf carts.  Imaginations and creativity ran wild.  After decorating the carts, there was a golf cart parade and obstacle course.  Everyone had a great time!

The Friday evening welcome dinner was a Hawaiian Luau, complete with roasted pig and volcano cakes.  The dinner was prepared by the UF Hospitality Management Program's Catering class, led by Paula Wolper.  The dinner and decorations were absolutely wonderful!

After the luau, we had the privilege of hearing world-renowned dressage rider and trainer - Betsy Steiner speak.  The lecture hall was packed to capacity.  Betsy was available all weekend to chat and sign books.  This was a wonderful and rare opportunity.

ALL OF THE EXTRAS

We wanted all of our guests to have an enjoyable time while visiting The University of Findlay.  During the lunch break on Saturday, the Golden Collar School for Dogs held a dog agility demonstration.

We also hosted an Equine Art Show & Sale all weekend.  Students and staff displayed their beautiful artwork.  We were very fortunate to welcome local photographer - Margie Shoop of Inspiring Images.  If you visit the James L. Child Equestrian Complex lobby, be sure to look for the two beautiful photographs that Margie generously donated.

Former jockey, Frankie Lovato Jr., was here with his invention, The Equicizer.  These mechanical horses are used by riders to build strength, skill, balance and flexibility.  Frankie and his wife Sandy were available for demonstrations.  People of all ages were willing to ride the horses.

Shari Hart (owner of Core Fitness of Findlay) was in attendance all weekend to demonstrate and discuss Equilates yoga.  Shari is a certified Equilates instructor.

We had a great vendor area.  There were several tack shops in attendance, along with a couple of local boutiques.

  • Wyldewood Tack Shop - Lambertville, Michigan
  • Full Spectrum Tack Shop - Findlay, Ohio
  • Sidelines Saddlery - Findlay, Ohio
  • County Saddlery - Ohio Representative - Katie Gussenhofen

Concessions were available throughout the weekend from Dan's Deli, and local favorites -George House Coffee and Amigos Taco Shop.

The official photographer for the event was Fairfield Photography from Pickerington, Ohio.  Mike Price is an exceptional photographer.  We were very fortunate to offer his services.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR WINNING TEAM

We were very pleased to present The University of New Hampshire's team and their coach - Sarah Hamilton with a check for $1,000. for the UNH General Scholarship Fund.  The scholarship money was generously donated by Cunningham & Cunningham Livestock Insurance Co. from Harriman, New York.  Tom Cunningham is a huge supporter of the sport of dressage.
