The University of Findlay's English Equestrian Program's school horses mainly consist of horses donated by individual donors. The horses donated to our program range from top-rated show horses to veteran beginner horses.

Donation Process

1. Fill out Prospective Horse Application and either
• e-mail to duncan@findlay.edu
• fax to 419-434-4860
• mail to 11178 CR 201 Findlay, OH  45840.
2. The Business Manager will review your application and a member of the staff will contact you regarding your donation.
3. If there is a space available in the program, you will receive a donation packet to include:
• Horse Donation Form
• Boarding Contract
• 8283 Forms signed by both the owner and appraiser 
• 1 for horses valued less than $5,000
• 2 for horses valued more than $5,000.
4. In most cases, we will request a video of your horse before bringing it in on a two-week trial period. This will help us better assess the horse for the program and keep the shipping costs to a minimum for the donor.
5. After reviewing the information and/or video, a member of the staff will contact the donor to schedule an arrival date for your horse.
6. For horses approved to come in on trial, we ask that the donor send a letter stating that the horse is being donated to The University of Findlay. This letter should arrive prior to the horses arrival or along with the delivery of the horse.
7. After the horse arrives to our facility for a two-week trial period, the instructors will evaluate the horse and have a pre-purchase exam preformed.
8. By the end of the two-week trial period, a member of the staff will contact you to inform you if your horse has been approved for the program.

Additional Paperwork Needed:

1. Letter(s) of appraisal
• One letter for horses valued less than $5,000 to include name and description of horse
• Two letters for horses valued more than $5,000 to include name and description of horse
2. Two letters for horses valued more than $5,000 to include name and description of horse
3. A letter from you stating what you would like to value the horse at.
4. A complete vaccination record of the horse
5. Registration papers (if applicable) signed over to The University of Findlay
6. USEF, USDF or FEI show record from the past show season and the USAE Horse ID number or USDF registration number (if applicable)
