Bring Your Horse To College

The University of Findlay Equestrian Studies Program provides an opportunity for students to bring their horse to school and learn along with the student. If you are interested in bringing your horse with you to college, the following criteria must be met:

Video Requirement
If you wish to use your horse in the English Equestrian Program, it is necessary for our instructors to review a video of you on your horse. This is to ensure that you are able to progress with the rest of your class. Your video should include the following:

  • Five minutes of flat work to include the walk, trot and canter in both directions. Dressage students should also demonstrate all other dressage movements that your horse is capable of performing.
  • Five minutes of jumping to include at least one single fence to a line of jumps two feet or higher is required for the horses in the hunter/jumper program.
  • If your horse specializes in a particular discipline, you may wish to include a few minutes of this. Show footage is an excellent example.

Please make sure your tape is VHS, VHS-C or DVD and they are nonreturnable. Please label the tape clearly with your name, phone number and address and which class you are in (example: Freshmen 2006). Also, please include the horse's age, breed and height.

Upon reviewing the tape you will be contacted by a staff member from the program as to the acceptance of your horse. Questions regarding the video should be directed to (800) 548-0932 ext. 4859 or jewett@findlay.edu.

Your video must be received no later than June 1 and should be mailed to:
