Can I bring my horse with me to college? Yes, students are allowed to use their personal horse in the English equestrian program. Bringing your own horse to The University of Findlay is permitted but certainly not required. The University is proud to have a variety of horses for all ability levels and concentrations.
Why do I need two lunge lines? Two lunge lines will be needed for long lining work throughout your training. Two lunge lines without chains are essential.
Will my saddle be o.k. for the program? A close contact jumping saddle is required for the English program. The University of Findlay does not accept Indian or Argentine made saddles or bridles unless they are Collegiate brand. Please remember that your tack is an important part of your education and learning experience at The University of Findlay and will be a part of your commitment to the horse industry.
What are baby pads for? Baby pads are thin white square quilted saddle pads that are used underneath the gel or foam pad. A different baby pad is used for each ride/each horse. By utilizing baby pads, sanitary practices may be reinforced.
What is IHSA and what are the requirements to participate? IHSA stands for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. The University of Findlay's IHSA Team is a recognized varsity sport through our athletic department. For more information, visit the IHSA English Team website.
How often do students ride? The riding program at The University of Findlay is one of the most intensive available. Students have instructed riding sessions five days per week. Weekend riding and competitions are also available.
