Western Horse Donation
Many of the horses owned by The University of Findlay's Western Equestrian Program have been donated by the public. :
- Quarter Horses or Paints
- Under 10 years of age
- HYPP negative
- Up-to-date on all required vaccinations
- Have a current, negative, coggins
- Submit copies of the registration papers and medical/vaccination records.
- Submit a video of the horse at a walk, jog, lope and a 360º turnaround in both directions, a stop and a simple or flying lead change.
- Submit a short narrative that describes the work and/or showing the horse has done in the past year.
- The director of the program will review the video and paperwork and a staff member will contact you regarding your donation.
- If the horse is accepted for a two-week trial period, the instructors will evaluate the horse and have a pre-purchase exam performed.
- By the end of the trial period, a staff member will have contacted you to let you know if your horse has been approved for the program.
- If your horse is approved, you will receive a donation packet, with forms to fill out and send back to us, which will include:
- A Horse Donation Form
- IRS Form 8283 to be signed by both the owner and appraiser
In addition you will also need to submit:
- Letter(s) of appraisal
- One for horses valued less than $5,000 to include name, registration number and description of horse
- Two for horses valued at $5,000, or above, to include name, registration number and description of horse
- Registration papers signed over to The University of Findlay
