The mathematics - applied emphasis for computer science major prepares students for a career in any business. Systems analysts use mathematical modeling and computational methods to formulate and solve practical problems in business and government.
The U.S. Department of Labor states that "advancements in technology lead to expanding applications of mathematics, and more workers with knowledge of mathematics will be required in the future." Employment of systems analysts is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014.
