Sample Courses and Syllabi
 
In the first two years, students complete the calculus sequence MATH 141, 142, 250 Calculus I – III, MATH 295 Introduction to Discrete Mathematics, CSCI 190 Computer Science I and one or more upper level mathematics courses.

In Calculus I – III the techniques and meaning of the processes of differentiation and integration are covered, as well as series and multivariable calculus.  Applications are also included. 
        
Discrete mathematics includes sets, logic, proof by induction, recurrence, permutations and combinations, order relations, matrices and graph theory. 

The computer science course includes problem solving through the use of microcomputer packages and programming in Visual Basic.

Upper level courses include two courses in advanced algebra, MATH 342 Linear Algebra and MATH 343 Abstract Algebra and MATH 345 Geometry, which include extensions of some high school topics. MATH 410 Probability and Statistics includes the related field of statistics, which has many applications. The mathematics faculty continues to develop new courses, including MATH 400 Topics in Mathematics, MATH 330 Mathematical Modeling and MATH 301 Mathematics Technology.
