Pre-Veterinary Medicine
Student Involvement
The freshmen in the spring semester take Animal Handling II. In this course you will learn about food animal medicine and will be working in the Pre-Vet barn all semester. Sophomores act as the animal care takers, and during the fall semester, help choose the animal population in the barn. This is part of the nutrition and reproduction classes in the Pre-Vet curriculum. As a junior or senior student, you will be able to apply for the Pre-Veterinary Barn Internship. This student helps to oversee the care and daily management of the animals in the barn under the supervision of Dr. Mike Kerns.
The Pre-Vet students examine one of the dairy calves.
