Students Applying to Veterinary School

Prospective Students:
The PVET/Equestrian Admission Days are planned to help you make the most of your visit to The University of Findlay. You will get the chance to talk with the Pre-Veterinary staff see the campus and both the English and Western Equestrian Farms. These days are Friday, Sept. 28, Friday, Nov. 14 and Friday, April 24.  These outings are especially useful for those students visiting for the first time. Plan your visit now!

We also offer some general Fall Visit days where junior and senior high school students can come and tour our campuswide facilities. These will be Friday, Oct. 3 and Monday, Oct. 13.

The scholarship competition days are Saturday, Dec.6, and Saturday, Jan.31, 2009. These are days where high school students come to compete for academic scholarships.

Our Spring Preview Day for prospective fall 2009 students will be Friday, April 3, 2009. 

Come and participate in our "Summer Planning for College" Workshop held for prospective fall 2009 students on Saturday, June 13, 2009.

Current Students:
The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association is sponsoring the Midwest Veterinary Conference in Columbus on Feb. 19-22, 2009. The Pre-Veterinary Club often attends this meeting.

    Fall Semester:

• Classes start at 7 a.m. on Aug. 25.
• The last day to add a class or section is Sept. 2.
• The last day to drop or withdraw from a class is Nov. 3.
• Reports of "C- through F's" due into the Registrar's Office Oct. 20. 
• Thanksgiving Recess is Nov. 27 - 30.
• Classes end at 10 p.m. on Dec. 5. This is the deadline for seniors to apply for spring graduation.
• Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement is at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
• Final Exam Week is Dec. 8 - 11.
• Financial Aid - The deadline for filing for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is April 1. The deadline for The University of Findlay's endowed scholarships is announced in early February.

    Spring Semester:

• Classes start at 7 a.m. on Jan. 5.
• The last day to add a class or section is Jan. 12.
• Spring Break is March 2-8.
• Easter Break is April 10-12.
• The last day to drop or withdraw from a class is March 23.
•  Classes end at 10 p.m. on April 24.
• Final Exam Week is April 27 - 30.
• Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement is at 2 p.m. on May 2 at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.

Students Applying to Veterinary School:

• Students should be taking standardized tests beginning in April of the year they are applying.
• Applications are available from the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) beginning May 30 online.
• The deadline for VMCAS applications is Oct. 1, 2008.
• The deadline for veterinary school applications is Oct. 1, 2008.
• The suggested timetable for graduate school application is December through January.
