Mission and Goals

The mission of the College of Sciences is to provide students with an understanding of the impact of science on their lives, to train students in those skills and knowledge necessary in today's technological society while preparing them for their future lives and careers.

Goals for the College of Sciences are to:

  1. Maintain curriculum assessment, enhancement and new program development for both undergraduate and graduate programs for an increasingly diverse student body
  2. Establish joint and cooperative recruiting and outreach activities
  3. Enhance student services in the areas of academic support, advising and retention, and career preparation for COS majors using data from other administrative units on campus as well as internal COS programs
  4. Promote and support faculty and staff development for all COS faculty
  5. Improve COS facilities, i.e., well-equipped classrooms, labs, equipment, buildings, field sites, etc.
