A COMBINATION OF WEB-BASED EDUCATION, INTERACTIVE CASE-BASED DISCUSSION, AND PRACTICUM DATE: January 9, 2009 LOCATION: The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy Participants must be American Heart Association, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (CPR/AED) certified and provide proof of certification prior to attending the live session. If you are not certified: An American Heart Association, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals Provider Course will be offered on DATE: January 8, 2008 LOCATION: The University of Findlay College of PharmacyThe University of Findlay, College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education and complies with the Criteria for Quality for continuing pharmacy education programming. This is an application-based activity. The Immunization program is approved for 20.0 contact hours (2.0 CEU's). ACPE UAN: 449-000-09-032-C01-P. The AHA BLS program is approved for 4.0 contact hours (0.4 CEU's) UAN: 449-000-09-041-L05-P. The programs expire on June 8, 2012. A statement of credit will be issued 4 to 6 weeks upon receipt of completed registration/evaluation documents.Learning Objectives At the end of this program, the successful participant will be able to: A. Describe the immune system and its reaction to disease and immunizationB. For each vaccine covered, list the disease states associated with the immunization, the type or nature of the activity of the immunization, the administration schedule, the route(s) of administration, the injection sites, the dosage, the proper monitoring parameters for adverse reactions, the appropriate patient populations, precations and contraindications and proper storage requirements for immunization. The vaccines covered are Influenze, Hepatitis A and B, Meningococcal, Pneumococcal, Tetanus, Dipheria, Pertussis, Rabies, Anthrax, Smallpox, Japanese Encephalitis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Herpes Zoster, Herpes Varicella, HPV, Yellow Fever, Lyme Disease, Typhoid, Rotovirus, Polio, Tuberculosis. The intranasal product for influenza will also be covered.C. Describe and demonstrate proper sterile technique in injectable dosage preparation and administrationD. Describe and demonstrate proper techniques for intranasal administration of influenza vaccineE. Describe and demonstrate proper disposal procedures for contaminated needles and immunizationsF.
