MAT Professional Phase
Because a limited number of
students can be accepted into the professional phase each year (maximum of 16), the selection committee will formally admit only the most
qualified students. There are three different routes into the professional
phase of the MAT program:
Direct Admission
This route
is only for high school seniors who meet all of the following minimum admission
criteria:
- High school GPA of 3.5 or above
- ACT of 24 or
higher - or - SAT of 1100 or higher
Selection will be based on the first applicants who
meet these criteria and have declared "Athletic Training" as their undergraduate
major.
Once enrolled at UF, students must also maintain the following during their
pre-professional phase:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
better in all AT program prerequisite courses
- Meet all other AT program
and University requirements
After
qualified students have been accepted by the Office of Admissions,
the AT program director will notify the students of their direct admission status
for the MAT program.
Any
student who does not meet these admission criteria or fails to maintain the
criteria while they are in the pre-professional phase can also elect to pursue
the other routes to admission.
Early
Admission
This route
is for those students who may already hold college degrees or undergraduate
students who have finished the admission criteria early.
Applicants must have all of the admission criteria completed and admission
documents received by December 1 (we will wait for any
academic transcripts that contain courses taken during the fall semester). Applicants will be notified of their admission status shortly after January
1.
Regular
Admission
This route
is for any undergraduate student or college graduate who did not meet the
Early Admission deadline. These
applicants should have their AT program application documents submitted
by February 1.
Regular
admission applicants will be notified of their admission status after March 1.
Admission of qualified students will continue until all
available positions have been field and classes begin early July (annually).
