Mission
The
Master of Athletic Training prepares highly qualified, ethical health care
professionals with a depth of knowledge and judgment to competently advance the
art and science of athletic training.
Vision Statement
The Master of Athletic Training will strive for
recognition as a premier program in educating future athletic trainers with a
strong foundation of scientific principles, innovative educational strategies
and a strong emphasis in clinical education, so they are prepared to advance
athletic training to better serve the patients, the profession, and the
community.
Goals
Students will use the knowledge, skills and
dispositions learned and mastered during the MAT to be gainfully employed or
furthering their education.
Graduates will be highly qualified, professional
and successful athletic trainers.
Students will develop sensitivity towards the
ethical issues and dilemmas created within an evolving technologic society and
the need to respond in ways which affirm and protect human rights and values.
Graduates will be able to function as an athletic
trainer in a variety of clinical settings and interact with a diverse patient
population to produce the best possible patient outcomes.
Value the contribution of research to the
advancement of theoretical knowledge and practice within athletic training.
Value the need for lifelong personal and
professional development.
