NMI cooperates with a number of approved affiliate health care institutions and nuclear pharmacies for the clinical internship of its students. Clinical affiliates can be found in 15 different states:
Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia.
A conjoint advisory committee, with a representative from each affiliate health care institution, college and radiopharmacy provides guidance for curriculum development and helps in assessing the program's needs.
The following comprises a list of JRCNMT approved or approval pending (identified with a "*" if approval is pending) NMI affiliate health care institutions for clinical training. Not all facilities may be available at all times. Please click on each site for additional information pertaining to that affiliate health care institution.
Upon successful completion of the NMI program, all students are eligible to apply to the NMTCB to take the national certification exam in nuclear medicine technology. Students may or may not be eligible to take the ARRT certification exam, depending on patient load, degree achieved and clinical competencies completed. The ARRT has specific clinical competency requirements that may not be met by some clinical facilities, depending on patient load. Eligibility requirements for ARRT certification in nuclear medicine technology will — effective January 1, 2015 — call for candidates to have earned an associate (or more advanced) degree from an accrediting agency recognized by ARRT.
