New Incoming Freshmen

Application to the OT program is a two step process. Your first step is to apply and get accepted to the University of Findlay. Apply now!

Current OT Sophomores

Applications will be provided during OT program information sessions during the month of October.  Watch the Pulse and emails for dates of upcoming information sessions. Contact your faculty advisor if you have questions. The application will be due December 14th, 2012.

 
All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Admission to The University of Findlay does not guarantee admission to the occupational therapy traditional program.


Traditional Program Application Process

Applications will be given to qualified UF students in the month of October. Applications for UF and transfer students are due December 14, 2012. Decisions of the Admission Committee are final.​

  1. The Admission Committee will review applications in January of each year.

  2. Applicants will be notified of acceptance within six weeks after the application deadline.

  3. The applicant is responsible for including all of the required materials in the application packet.

  4. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.​

Transfer Students

The occupational therapy department at The University of Findlay subscribes to the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS). Transfer students seeking admission into the traditional program must apply online using the OTCAS application​. The application deadline is December 14, 2012. We suggest you begin the OTCAS application process eight weeks prior to the application deadline to allow sufficient time for OTCAS to process it. To create an OTCAS application account and learn more about the process, please visit the OTCAS website​.

Official transcripts are not subject to the OTCAS application deadline (December 14); they may be submitted after the deadline. Applications will still be processed and released to The University of Findlay.

Weekend College Application Process

Admission to the occupational therapy weekend program is a two-step process.

  1. Applicants must first apply to The University of Findlay using the online Transfer/Post High School application. Apply now​!

  2. Applicants must send official college/university transcripts to:

Applicants will receive a credit evaluation from the Office of the Registrar. Once received, applicants are required to call the administrative assistant of the occupational therapy program at 419 434-6936 for a brief review of the evaluation and to schedule an appointment with the program director to discuss the weekend program.

A separate application must be completed for consideration of acceptance into the weekend program. The application will be provided by the program director.

All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Admission to The University of Findlay does not guarantee admission to the occupational therapy weekend program.​



Weekend College Deadlines

  1. Applicants will be notified of acceptance within six weeks after the application deadline.
  2. Applications will be mailed to interested students in December. Finished applications are due February 1.
  3. The applicant is responsible for including all required materials in the application packet. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Selection of Applicants

A number of factors are considered during the selection process.
Categories include:

  • GPA (with emphasis on program prerequisites)

  • Program preparation

  • Involvement in outside activities

  • Service activities

  • Current membership in professional organizations (Weekend College only)

  • Understanding of the profession

  • Recommendations

  • Communication skills

  • Leadership ability

 While the application criteria serve as general guidelines, final decisions are based on review of the student's entire record.


OT Program Technical Standards

The OT program encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or status as a veteran of any conflict and disability status.  The University of Findlay Master of Occupational Therapy program exceeds the entry-level standards established by the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association and prepares graduates who we believe are competent for entry-level practice.  It is the intent of the Technical Standards to describe the overall academic skills, professional role skills, and therapeutic skills required to successfully complete the program and practice as an occupational therapist.
