To
become a member of the Honors Program, you must first meet the
eligibility requirements.
Having met these requirements, students need to complete an
online application to be considered. You will receive notification
from the
Honors Program Chair of your acceptance into the program.
Eligibility Requirements
To fulfill the requirements of the
Honors Program, you need to complete a total of 16 hours of honors
credit. You must also earn a grade of B- or above in all honors courses
and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above.
Program Requirements
To remain in the program, you must
maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher each academic year. If at
the end of spring semester, your GPA has fallen below 3.50, you will be
withdrawn from the program. You may re-apply once your GPA is again 3.50
or above.
In addition, you are required to
attend one meeting per semester. These mandatory meetings are intended
to provide peer support and socialization and direct you toward the
completion of the major project. Breakout sessions for each cohort
provide appropriate educational topics such as qualitative research, IRB
process, and proposal preparation.
All Honors Program requirements should be completed one semester prior to graduation. By successfully completing
the requirements of the Honors Program, you will be recognized at
commencement as an Honors scholar in your field of study.
Tuition Waiver
As
a member of the Honors Program, you are eligible for tuition waiver of
up to six semester hours of overload credit. To receive the waiver, you
must be enrolled in an HNRS course during the semester you are taking an
overload.
