For the past six years, The University of Findlay has held Academic Excellence Day for students and faculty from all academic disciplines to share their scholarly work and talents. In addition we have had a separate Honors and Awards Day to honor the accomplishments of our students. For our 125th Anniversary, we would like to initiate the Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity, which will be a combination of both events. Also, because we want to emphasize student research and creative works (both undergraduate and graduate), at least one student must be a participant in each of the presentations.
The mission of this symposium is to serve as one vehicle to encourage the aspirations and achievement of inquiring minds for a lifetime pursuit of knowledge through university wide collaboration and scholarship.
Our goals are to: a) make connections with other disciplines, b) develop communication and critical reasoning skills, c) promote leadership qualities, d) share research and creativity, e) develop a sense of belonging with a learning community, f) experience other cultures and ethnicities, and g) serve both graduate and undergraduate populations.
