Overview
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Honors Program or want to learn more about it, please read this overview plus the individual sections for details. To become a member of the Honors Program, you must first meet the eligibility requirements. Having met these requirements and having received an invitation to join the Program, you need to complete an online application form to be considered. You will receive notification from the Honors Program Chair of your acceptance into the Program.
To fulfill the requirements of the Honors Program, you need to complete a total of 16 hours of honors credit. You must also earn a grade of B- or above in all honors courses and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above.
To remain in the Program, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher each academic year. If at the end of spring semester, your GPA has fallen below 3.50, you will be withdrawn from the Program. You may reapply once your GPA is again 3.50 or above.
In addition, you are required to attend one meeting per semester. These mandatory meetings are intended to provide peer support and socialization and direct you toward the completion of the major project. Breakout sessions for each cohort provide appropriate educational topics such as qualitative research, IRB process, and proposal preparation.
All Honors Program requirements should be completed one semester prior to graduation. By successfully completing the requirements of the Honors Program, you will be recognized at commencement as an Honors Scholar in your field of study.
As a member of the Honors Program, you are eligible for tuition waiver of up to six semester hours of overload credit. To receive the waiver, you must be enrolled in an HNRS course during the semester you are taking an overload.
