Global Perspective on Gender |
Y |
| In this course, a sampling of cultures from around the globe will
be investigated and compared. Issues may include the international
sexual division of labor, gendered features of class systems, body
rituals marking masculinity and femininity, and resistance to gender
formations beyond Euro-American borders. Rather than assuming that
Western patterns of domination and gendering are universal, this course
takes a look at how the lives of men and women both together and
separate are formed in other parts of the globe.
