It is recommended that students begin building strong resumes through meaningful experiences prior to graduation.
For students in The University of Findlay’s College of Liberal Arts, learning extends beyond the traditional classroom setting. Department faculty are also active advocates of students gaining internship experiences. Faculty members serve as liaisons between students and institutions to assist with the coordination of internship opportunities.
Benefits from internship/co-op experience include:
Acquire practical, hands-on experience
Earn academic credit that may count toward your degree program
Create a network of professional contacts, mentors and references
Gain interview experience
Experience that will enhance résumé
Validate career decisions
May offer experiences such as cultural or living in a larger metropolitan location
Increase marketability/value to potential employers–they often look at interns first to fill positions
